The Mercer Island girls golf team finally achieved something they’ve tried to do before, but could never quite pull out. Monday the team beat Inglemoor 230-248 in one of the closest matches of the season. With the win the Islanders secured their third straight KingCo title, something no other team has accomplished.

If that wasn’t impressive enough the team has won 33 dual matches in a row and have won 64 of their last 69 dual matches, a winning streak stretching out over the last three years.

Now that the regular season is behind them, the team will travel to the KingCo 3A medalist tournament on Monday, May 10 at Riverbend Golf Course in Kent. From there the top golfers will qualify for the state tournament which starts May 25 at Horn Rapids Golf Club in Richland. The girls team finished fourth as a team last year at state.
