MIHS spring sports state update

For most spring sports athletes, this is the week of state.

Track, soccer, golf, tennis and boys lacrosse (girls water polo and girls lacrosse finished up last week) will all compete in state tournaments at some point between now and Sunday, May 27.

Golf

The 3A state golf tournament for both boys and girls begins on Tuesday, May 22 in Spokane. The girls are at Esmerelda and the boys play at Indian Canyon.

Boys lacrosse

The Mercer Island boys lacrosse team will host Bellevue in Wednesday’s state semifinal match. The game begins at 7 p.m.

If the team wins, they will play in Saturday’s 6 p.m. state championship at Memorial Stadium in Seattle.

Boys soccer

The boys soccer team will play in the state semifinals on Friday, May 25 at 3 p.m. in Puyallup against Eastmont.

Tennis

The boys and girls tennis state tournaments begin on Friday, May 25 and continue Saturday, May 26 in the Tri-Cities.

The Islanders are depending state champions for both boys and girls.

Track & Field

The state track meet begins Thursday, May 24 at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tacoma. The meet, which includes all 2A and 4A state athletes, continues through Saturday, May 26.

A full schedule can be found on the WIAA website, as well as heat sheets for the 3A events.

Everything will be updated as results/information comes in from the tournament.
