I posted brackets last week for the KingCo baseball and KingCo soccer tournaments, but here’s a look at the rest of the post season action for spring sports.
Girls golf
The Islanders are playing in the KingCo championship at Willows Run in Redmond on Tuesday. The top golfers will move forward to the SeaKing district tournament, to be held on May 14 at Riverbend in Kent. The state tournament will be held May 22-23 in Spokane at Esmerelda Golf Course, which the Islanders played on and won a non-conference match earlier this season. The boys golf state tournament will also be in Spokane, at Indian County Golf Course.
Girls tennis
The girls tennis KingCo tournament begins on Wednesday, May 9. Top qualifiers will move forward to the SeaKing district tournament on May 15-16 at Lower Woodland Courts in Seattle. Qualifiers from last falls boys KingCo tournament will join the girls for the SeaKing tournament.
State for both boys and girls takes place May 25-26 in the Tri-Cities.
Track & Field
The KingCo championships will be held this week, with the preliminary events on Wednesday, May 9 at Juanita High School. The finals will be held on Friday, May 11, also at Juanita.
The following week, athletes who qualify will compete in the SeaKing district meet May 16 and May 18 at the Southwest Complex in West Seattle. The top five girls/boys in each event will qualify for the state meet which will be held May 24-26 at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
Boys soccer
The Mercer Island boys qualified for the state tournament after winning the KingCo regular season title. The team’s first game will be on May 16, against the No. 5 team from District 3/4. Location, time and opponent have yet to be announced.
Girls lacrosse
The girls lacrosse team begins the playoffs Tuesday, May 8 with a game against Holy Names. If the Islanders beat the Cougars, they will play the winner of the Klahowya vs. Issaquah game on Friday, May 11.
The state finals will be held on May 19 at Eastside Catholic High School in Sammamish.
