August 27th, 2012 at Mon, 27th, 2012 at 2:00 pm by Megan Managan

This Friday the Mercer Island football team will begin the 2012 season with the home opener against Redmond.

The non-conference match up pits 3A Mercer Island against 4A Redmond starting at 7 p.m. at Islander Stadium.

Last season the Mustangs finished 0-9, scoring an average of 13 points per game. The Islanders finished 8-3 overall last year, with a 6-1 league record, making their first state appearance since 1988.
